Transfer Roundup: Klavan, Manniger & Wijnaldum Sign

Looks like it has been a very busy summer for the Reds. Three signings announced in the space of 3 days. Klavan, Manniger and Wijnaldum make it I believe the fourth, fifth and sixth signings of the summer window

The signing of Klavan is to have experience at the center half position, due to the departure of Martin Skrtel and release of Kolo Toure. The Estonian will compete with Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Andre Wisdom for the central spot. Will be interesting to see who the new partner to Dejan Lovren will be.

Alex Manniger, who I’ve known from his time at Arsenal, adds experience to the goalkeeping side of things, especially under the new loan rules that Danny Ward won’t be able to be recalled from his loan at Wigan. He won’t play very much, but his experience in the Premier League will be invaluable, especially in things like Cup games.

Finally the signing of Wijnaldum. It was long touted that Liverpool were in the market for him, but my ultimate question is where he will fit in Jurgen Klopp’s puzzle. His versatility across the front line is great, and he will also add to the goals from midfield, but who will be sacrificed so he can play? My guess would be either Lallana or Markovic because Coutinho is about the only one sure of his spot on the team.

So Klopp is really building his team now. Sure, there aren’t any Pogbas or Gotzes in there but I think once he solves the left back problem and trims the squad, we will be ready for the season. 2016-2017 here we come!
