As Liverpool completed a 5-0 win over minnows Fleetwood Town in Highbury, the transfer market still continues to churn on. Turkish club Fenerbache announced that Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has passed a medical at the club and will soon be unveiled as a Fenerbache player subject to him agreeing terms. ESPN FC reports that the fee is around 5 million pounds. I wish the player all the best, he was a rock at his best for Liverpool, but maybe it is time to give someone else a chance.
Another Liverpool player with an uncertain future is “Welsh Xavi” Joe Allen. After an extraordinary Euro’s with Wales and being voted in the Team of the Tournament, it’ll be little surprise to see other clubs swooping in to buy him. What more, he only has one year left on his current contract. Jurgen has made it clear that the situation with Allen needs to be settled, and with interest from former club Swansea in the wings, it will be interesting to see what ends up being decided. I think Allen still has a lot to offer the club, especially as he played very well towards the end of last season. So my wish is that he stays, but again, only time will tell.
Finally, we come to “Super Mario” Balotelli. Struck down with injuries while on loan with AC Milan, the forward is now back at Liverpool. It is clear where Klopp stands when it comes to the 25 year old – there’s no space for him at Liverpool. Having said that, Klopp has vowed to make him as fit as possible so that he looks good with potential buyers. My question is though, WHO WILL TAKE A CHANCE ON HIM? We shall see as the weeks roll on, and hopefully a situation works out for the player. He has talent, his attitude has improved according to reports in Italy and in Liverpool, so is he worth taking a gamble on? Just have to wait and see.
